ENOUGH DINNERWARE by Michael Freimuth
The ‘Western lifestyle’ has been a contentious issue since the phrase was first coined. However the reality of our over-consumption of products, services, foods and resources – and the effect this excessive lifestyle has on ourselves and the world around us seem even more overt with every passing day. ‘Perfect’ is an independent houseware venture founded on the idea of providing a (sometimes literal) platform for commentary on the subject. As a co-founder of the company, I took on the collaborative design of our first, small collection of conceptual dinnerware – which began our foray into the world of playfully utilitarian art-objects. Each item nods to a back-to-basics approach to healthy and mindful eating via simple language and format, while implicitly speaking to the larger issues of excess and consumption.
